Durgadevi Zone – Jim Corbett National Park

The Heart of Wildlife & Adventure in Corbett

Durgadevi Zone is one of the most scenic, raw, and adventurous zones of Jim Corbett National Park. Located on the north-eastern boundary of the park, this zone is blessed with hilly terrain, river streams, dense forests, and rugged landscapes — making it a favorite among bird watchers, wildlife photographers, and true nature enthusiasts.

The safari track here mostly runs along the Ramganga River and Mandal River, which serve as lifelines for many animals and birds in this region. Durgadevi is less crowded compared to popular zones like Bijrani & Dhikala, offering visitors a calm and authentic wilderness experience.

This zone is known for elusive and rare wildlife sightings. Popular species observed here include:

  • Royal Bengal Tigers — often seen in deep forest areas
  • Leopards — frequently spotted on rocky terrains
  • Wild Elephants, Jackals & Wild Boars
  • Goral (Mountain Goat) on steep hills
  • Otters & Mahseer fish near river streams

For bird lovers, Durgadevi is a paradise, with sightings of:

  • Great Hornbill, Crested Serpent Eagle, and Himalayan birds
  • Migratory species during winters

The rugged beauty and raw wilderness make sightings more adventurous and rewarding.

Jeep safari is the only way to explore this zone. The safari trail includes:

  • Steep slopes & river crossings
  • Rocky path surrounded by tall trees
  • Stunning viewpoints along river banks

Morning safaris offer higher chances of predator sightings, while evenings are great for birdwatching.

This zone is especially suitable for visitors who prefer a challenging and off-beat jungle route.
