Dhela Zone – Jim Corbett National Park

The Heart of Wildlife & Adventure in Corbett

The Dhela Zone is one of the newer ecotourism zones in Jim Corbett National Park, opened for visitors in 2014. Despite being a recent addition, it has quickly gained popularity due to its impressive wildlife activity and peaceful forest environment. The zone is rich in diverse vegetation including sal forests, grasslands, and wetlands, creating an ideal habitat for various animal and bird species.

Located close to Ramnagar and accessible via Dhela Gate, this zone is open throughout the year, giving travelers flexibility to plan safaris in any season. From tiger tracking moments to mesmerizing bird sightings, Dhela offers an immersive and raw jungle experience in the heart of Corbett.

Dhela has a healthy population of predators and prey, which leads to exciting wildlife sightings. Popular animals seen here include:

  • Royal Bengal Tigers
  • Wild Elephants (frequently seen in herds)
  • Leopards, Sloth Bears & Jackals
  • Deer species: Chital, Sambar, Hog Deer
  • Indian Gaur (occasionally spotted)
  • Rich birdlife – owls, vultures, woodpeckers & migratory birds

The zone’s mix of wetlands and grasslands makes it a hotspot for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.

Jeep safari is the only mode of exploration inside Dhela Zone. Guided gypsies take visitors deep into scenic tracks where animals roam freely near water sources and forest patches. Morning and evening safari timings both provide a fantastic opportunity to witness wildlife activity.
